We are Yurika: meet Sameera Siddiqui

Meet Sameera, an electrical engineer from Pakistan and Yurika new starter who is on an exciting journey to make a difference in the energy industry.

Tell us about your career.??

After graduating university, I worked for K-Electric in Karachi, Pakistan where I managed critical network operations. While working in the process excellence department, I focused on improving the company's technical processes. I was eventually promoted to Deputy Manager Business Operations. Each role added layers to my growth and learning.? At the beginning of this year, I moved to Australia and joined Yurika in Townsville as a Project Engineer.??

What are you working on now??

I am currently working on two exciting projects which will facilitate the HV connection of Wind, Solar and Battery energy. I am learning and growing in my field, ensuring all the deliverable are provided within the stipulated timeframe.?

What excites you about the future of the energy industry???

The world is shifting towards renewable energy, and I am excited to support this movement for future generations.??

How do you balance your work and personal goals???

Since I moved to Townsville, Yurika has been very supportive and flexible. Living in Townsville is much easier compared to the bustling city life in Pakistan. Yurika team has been very welcoming and made it easy for me to settle into the new place.??

What's your advice to anyone considering a career at Yurika???

I highly recommend Yurika as a great place to work. Its supportive management and big projects provide excellent opportunities to learn and make a difference.??

What's the best advice anyone ever gave you??

My mom used to tell me, “A Women should always be financially independent. No matter where you go in life, or who you get married to”.?

What's the most important thing you've learned in life or work???

The most important thing I have learned is to plan little and not overthink making decisions, even the big ones.?
