Are we there yet?

That was Week 51 folks, we made it.

Personally that was a heck of a year for me. I came out of a fairly corporate world in summer 2022 and had this vague, odd idea about building a 'portfolio career' without really knowing what that would mean or how to go about it.

In 2023 I built it.

If you've been a client in 2023, as an advisory client, part of a cohort, or a one-off coaching session, I want to say a huge thank you. You've been part of my journey and I appreciate the trust you've placed in me, I hope I've earned it.

Looking forward

There's a temptation at this time of year to start setting goals and making plans for the new year.

Although we can make a fresh start at any time; there is something compelling about Jan 1. It's such a clean slate that we want to make the most of it.

Let me suggest something.

Take some time over the holiday break to think about what's next - but hold off on making those plans just yet.

Let the laptop stay closed for a few days.

Note down your ideas and goals for 2024 but let them live as day dreams for a little while before you ground them with tasks, calculations and measurements.

Take some time to live with those dreams for a few days. Make them rich and real and tempting. Feel what it will be like to pursue and achieve them.

When you do make those details plans they'll be much more compelling because the pull of the goals will be stronger.

They will be feelings as well as ideas.
