We wish you safe and silent nights this Christmas
Well, that’s nearly a wrap…?What a massive year!
Let’s take a look at some of the highlights of 2023 for Guardian Angel Safety…
Our Guardian Angel Portal (GAP) for Safe data management now has thousands of users logging in every day to assign devices and maintain data and boy are we glad we don’t have to deal with constantly changing spreadsheets anymore!?
Our monitoring stations are capturing monthly testing in GAP and we have recently made the testing data visible to our customers so you can see your status live.
We finished the Safe Trips feature in GAP. Integrated into the Guardian Angel Portal, Safe Trips is designed to revolutionise field worker trip safety by allowing users to log trip details in advance, ensuring a proactive approach to risk management and employee well-being.
Hot of the press, our new Halo cell-based solution is finally launched!
We funded and released a special report on satellite communications during disaster and emergency response with “on the ground experience” input from customers NZTA Waka Kotahi, WorkSafe NZ, WSP and Hawkes Bay Regional Council following the Cyclone Gabrielle and floods earlier this year in New Zealand.? This sharing of learnings project was incredibly well received by the market and we’re so grateful to our clients for participating, and all the encouraging feedback on its value.
We attended various shows in Australia and New Zealand – thank you to all the customers we are now working with as a result, and to those yet to come onboard, we look forward to welcoming you in 2024.
We welcomed some new Guardian Angels to our teams in Australia and New Zealand – thank you for your patience while we settled them in!
We are proud to have been able to help a number of our lone workers in sticky situations including a parking warden, an Animal control officer and a few events at our monitored libraries.? And of course our Everywhere Communications solution with Garmin inReach devices was heavily relied upon during the weather events earlier this year.

We turned our values into an office poster to keep us focused on what really matters. Guarding your workers so they are never alone!
And finally just for a bit of Christmas fun! We are loving these @wastefreecelebrations re-usable Christmas Crackers. Bringing a bit of fun to the Christmas table and we’ll be using them again with all new gifts for Christmas Eve celebrations! Check them out to make your Christmas a sustainable one…
Christmas Hours
As always, our monitoring stations never close and they will continue to monitor the safety of all Guardian Angel lone workers throughout the Holiday Period.? Our Head Office Team will be taking time out from 22nd December till 8th January, but the phones will divert to a rostered on-call Customer Service team member right throughout for any emergencies that can’t wait.? Please note that support calls may incur charges and after-hours support calls are charged at a higher rate.? To clarify, if there is a genuine emergency we of course don’t charge to support a successful resolution. ?Please encourage your staff to test their devices in the next couple of weeks before the 22nd Dec.? And give them a nudge to have their testing instructions in front of them when they do the test. ?A lot of our support calls are from users who have forgotten how to cancel their SOS and other testing issues which are all covered in their training material.? Of course, if they need to know their solution is working as it should before they head into a potentially prickly situation during this time, we still want them to test so we know they’re safe. ?
As always, use our support number or email to ensure it raises a ticket.?

Personal use of duress pendants over the holiday period.
Many of our clients allow their staff to use their duress devices out of hours when they’re not required for the business.?If staff are tramping, hunting, biking, sailing or other activities that may be outside of cell cover, the inReach device will offer protection.? If you have cell-based duress devices, maybe you have staff who would like to feel safer walking back to their car after a night out or similar.???Talk to your staff about being able to use the safety devices for personal safety over the holidays.? If you haven’t suggested it to them, in our experience they don’t like to ask but we also know, it’s a great boost to culture for staff to know you really care about them all the time, not just when they’re working.? And of course, if you’re on our paid GuardianPortal plan, you will be able to update the response instructions and escalations to what might work better for the holiday period.?
Start 2024 off with refresher training on your solutions
Our Guardian Angel trainers are already looking busy for February / March with many of our customers planning to start 2024 with heightened awareness of the solution in use, and the introduction of new features to their users. ? It’s worth booking 6 monthly refresher training for your teams. ?
Thank you for trusting us to protect your remote and isolated staff in 2023.
Enjoy the festive season, be safe, have fun and relax! We know we will be.
