?Most of us were taught to conform in our youth, to stand single file, follow along and continue the status quo. But we were meant to be walking flames, passionately blazing trails through life - living dangerously courageous, bridled only by our wildest dreams. But that’s where we stop, we stop dreaming. We’re sold stability and responsibility but at the cost of our dreams. As we continue we begin to unravel the fabric of our soul for the illusion of what we’ve been sold. Yet the flame still flickers. It’s the sound of a cool breeze that is drowned by the hum of the city. It’s the flower in the crack of the sidewalk blooming despite its inevitable demise. It’s the smile of a child that dares to interrupt the worries you laboriously maintain. Yet the flame still flickers. It doesn’t see age, ability or status in life. It doesn’t see the years wasted or obstacles yet to come. It only sees you, but not the you that you see. It sees you as if you’ve already lived all your years dancing in the rain, leaping beyond where your eyes could see, recklessly pursuing an unquenchable passion. It calls, it waits, it aches. Longing to be released. Released to set ablaze. To set ablaze our heart, our mind, our everything. To turn every thought, every action into meaning. A meaning that takes its roots from the beginning of time and extends its branches beyond our years. It’s patient but mighty. If we would only give it fuel it would spark an uncontrollable fire that would consume our very lives. But this fire gives as it takes. If we let this fire grow without restraint it gives lavishly, continuously, always more than we give. It’s the gift given the moment our name was called. Before we breathed our first breath the flame flickered. Tend to your flame as I tend to mine. Give it fuel. The fuel of hope and purpose. The fuel that before we could even make a sound we were called. Called not just by name but by our flame.
