Our family is growing. 

Accenture’s greatest source of competitive advantage is our nearly 537,000 family members.  After a year that has required unparalleled personal and professional strength, it is because of our people that we are emerging even stronger.

It’s clear that our clients and communities need our human ingenuity more than ever. We hire ~100,000 people each year. To support our tremendous growth, we hired 45,000 people in the last quarter alone, which is the highest in our company’s history. And we’re doing it in a gender-balanced way and through the lens of our race and ethnicity representation goals.

Being worthy of our people

Fundamental to our core values is to care deeply for our people. And providing a meaningful employee experience is essential. It’s not about them being worthy of us, but us worthy of them. Because we are keenly aware that while we chose our people once, they choose us every day. To be worthy of their choice, our commitment is to them as a human being first – to achieve their aspirations and to be successful both professionally and personally.

Here are five things that are important to our people and how we are responding to their needs.

1.     Bringing their authentic self to their whole life. The past year has shown us how fragile the bonds are that unite us as human beings. With great conviction, we expanded our actions to Stand Against Racism, including publishing our race and ethnicity representation goals because transparency builds trust.  We also look beyond the numbers because we have an unwavering commitment to create a culture of equality for all. We’re proud to be among the first in India to move away from gender binaries when it came to our people policies. There we’ve replaced gender stereotypes to focus on the role of caregivers, and our transmen who can bear a child are now eligible for 26 weeks of maternity leave.  

2.     Staying resilient. We care deeply for our people and strive to meet them where they are.  This comes to life in different ways around the world – be it expanding virtual tutoring benefits for our parents who are juggling working from home and their children’s virtual school, to expanding telemedicine benefits to caregivers and extended family members, to offering our AI-powered emotional health app not only to our people but their dependents age 13+. 

3.     Finding purpose. Our people solve the world’s most complex problems by delivering on the promise of technology and human ingenuity. From using the best of technology to accelerate the conservation of coral reefs, to reimagining the quality control associated with shipping pharmaceuticals, including COVID-19 vaccines, Accenture is a place where individuals make a difference in the world. We fundamentally believe that we must create value, while leading with values and are incredibly proud to have been named for the 14th consecutive year on Ethisphere’s World’s Most Ethical Companies list and the 19th consecutive year on Fortune’s World’s Most Admired Companies list.

4.     Learning every day. Continuous learning is a defining feature of who we are. Just this past quarter, we saw a 28% increase in training hours to boost our people’s market leading skills. And, because technology fluency is part of everyone’s job, 92% of our people have started their “TQ” – Technology Quotient – learning journey. We’re also taking our world-class learning to a whole new level. Featured at the recent Microsoft Ignite summit, our people will soon be meeting on the “Nth Floor”, thanks to the new Microsoft Mesh-enabled version of AltspaceVR, which has been reimagined for our immersive onboarding and learning experiences, collaboration spaces, and to enjoy those water cooler moments albeit virtually.  

5.     Growing vibrant careers. We are committed to providing boundaryless opportunities where our people can explore multiple careers without having to leave the company. We have maintained pay increases, bonuses, and promotions in our normal December time-period, as well as an additional round of promotions in February, enabling us to promote at the same rate as last year. We will also expand our regular mid-year promotions this coming June to include managing directors – a first in our company’s history – as one more way to create new opportunities for our people. 

Sharing success

We remain deeply grateful for all that our people do and believe firmly in sharing the success they help create. Today, we announced a special, one-time “thank you” bonus for all our people below managing director to recognize their extraordinary contributions and dedication to our clients, our communities, and to each other during the past year.
