We Want More Women in Tech
For the 18,000 women attending the 2017 Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing, today is an exciting start to what promises to be an incredible three days. Deeply connected by an intense passion for tech, Grace Hopper enthusiasts converge in Orlando this week to imagine their future, dream big about their careers, and explore how technology can drive innovation in the world around us. Accenture is incredibly proud to be part of it all!
To add to the undeniable energy of Grace Hopper, I am proud that Accenture was recognized on The Anita Borg Institute’s 2017 Top Companies for Women Technologists, which recognizes companies committed to building workplaces where women in technology roles can thrive. Today, we were also honored as the Top Company in the 10,000+ technical employees category in the first year this award has been given. We know that competition in this large-sector category is fierce, which makes us even more proud to receive the inaugural award!
I’d like to think that we would make Grace Hopper herself proud. She was bold, fearless and ahead of her time. It was in this spirit that we launched our first ever Accenture Grace Hopper Scholarship Program this year, in which we selected 12 amazing women who capture Grace’s pioneering spirit. We’re thrilled to have them join us in Orlando as part of our delegation of more than 100 Accenture people on the ground.
We have a strong relationship with the Anita Borg Institute— both as Pioneering partner for the last five years and Platinum sponsor of the Grace Hopper Celebration for the last three. If you are attending the conference this week—visit our Accenture booth (#2913) to meet our team. You’ll get a glimpse of how we’re helping shape the future of tech via cool, hands-on demos—are you ready for autonomous cars?
We’re also excited to have Allison Youngdahl, R&D Associate Principal on the Digital Customer team at Accenture Labs, presenting in a conference session on Friday. Allison will share a fascinating look at how Accenture is using new technologies to improve the grocery store experience for those with disabilities.
If you’re not attending in person, you can still participate in our virtual recruit-a-thon happening now. We have some amazing career opportunities that are not to be missed!
At Accenture, the bottom line is, we want more women in tech. That’s why we partner every day with organizations like the Anita Borg Institute, teaming with our colleagues, clients and communities to make a change for the better. We’re looking for those inspired by technology across all levels—interns, entry level and experienced hires. We’re looking for technologists JUST.LIKE.YOU.

7 年It's funny you mention Grace Hopper. I had the pleasure of working with a young Va Tech intern this summer at Valkyrie Enterprises. If I had an image of Grace Hopper, it certainly would be her. They say big things come in small packages. She is definitely a small package, probably as small as they come, but she has great presence, curious, drive and self-awareness. And she has natural leadership ability. Jon Greene, if you're monitoring this post, I think you will make an excellent mentor for this one. Attending a conference like this would also be encouraging for many others. I'll be sending her your way.
