We think you'll find this interesting...
It's been a funny old time - brands are stuck with stock following badly thought-out collaborations, nostalgia is good for you, in Japan your tax can buy beef and social media is killing big brand advertising.

What can Adidas do with £1 Billion of "Ye" trainers?
Kanye West or "Ye" is causing Adidas a big headache over what to do with the £1 Billion of stock they are stuck with.
Before The Marketing Optimist worked with The Edit LDN, we didn't quite realise the size of the limited edition trainer market. That project opened our eyes. It was a tough brief to get our heads around because the whole industry has a completely different language we needed to learn.
The changes we made to their navigation and eCommerce content are making a huge difference in their results.
Here's how we helped The Edit LDN with their SEO https://www.marketingoptimist.co.uk/advanced-ecommerce-seo/
Keep living in the past, it's good for you.
We spend a lot of time reliving memories, it's probably an age thing. So we were really pleased to read this article that gives scientific proof that nostalgia helps you:

We'd like our tax to be spent on Wagyu Beef please
Did you know, in Japan, you can choose to put a portion of your taxes to a specific prefecture? Essentially the Japanese equivalent to counties.?
So, for example, citizens can pay tax to the prefecture they’ve spent the longest living in, despite not currently residing there, to their home prefecture, or to specific areas affected by natural disasters, or economic difficulties.?
But it’s more exciting than that.?
The Japanese system enables citizens to choose items grown or made in each prefecture, as a gift, in return for the taxes they’ve donated. These items range from Wagyu beef, fruit, rice cookers, pots and pans, and beyond.?
There’s more! Perhaps most interestingly, the Japanese people using this system can specify how they want their taxes to be spent in this prefecture. So you can be sure your tax is going towards the societal factors important to you.?

Citizens pay outright for their items, but the total spent is taken off the tax they have to pay.
How cool is that?
What's the last big brand TV ad you remember?
It's probably a Christmas ad, but which one? John Lewis? Aldi? Tesco?
They all seem to blend into one big mass. The ads of old that made an impact had a much easier time that they do now. With just 3 or 4 TV channels and a captive audience, they became part of the language.?
How many of these brands can you identify?
It does what it says on the tin
"Vorsprung durch Technik"?

A lot less bovver than a hover?
There's an argument that these types of campaigns are now dead, thanks largely to social media which has diluted the audience into numbers over brand.?
But we think that's wrong. With strong creative, brave, ideas you can cut through and make a big splash.?
