We started the quarter on a high note with an invitation to the 59th Annual Scientific Conference of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN), Lagos Branch where our MD/CEO, Felix Ofungwu, was honoured as the Chairman of the occasion. In his speech, he highlighted the importance of the event with the theme “Holistic Approach to Prostate Disorders: Integrating Multidisciplinary Strategies for Precision Diagnosis” saying that forums like this enable us to find a bridge between theory and practice thereby enhancing patient outcomes.
We are happy to partner with AMLSN Lagos to create outstanding impact in healthcare within Lagos State and beyond.
We attended the 18th Annual Scientific Conference and All Fellows’ Congress of The Postgraduate Medical College Fellows’ Association in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Our team, represented by Somadina Uzodinma, had the chance to speak on the solutions we provide in histopathology and genome sequencing through our partnership with Leica and Illumina, respectively.
The 26th National Scientific Conference and Annual General Meeting of the Guild of Medical Laboratory Directors (GMLD) holds a special place in our hearts. As part of our efforts to support quality laboratory practice in Nigeria, our MD/CEO, Felix Ofungwu, signed an MoU with the association offering exclusive benefits to the members of GMLD. He was also honoured with “an Honours Award for Collaborative Partnership” in recognition of his efforts, through ISN Medical, to improve healthcare services in Nigeria.
Company Events
In partnership with QIAGEN, we hosted a practical session in forensic genomics targeted at Human Identification experts, specialist hospitals & laboratories (interested in or) providing services in paternity testing, newborn DNA screening, and forensic testing. Participants were introduced to the QIAGEN Sequencing Technology including Library Preparation, MiSeq FGx System, and the ForenSeq Universal Analysis Software.
We also had the privilege of hosting the Director General of Nigerian Institute of Research (NIMR), Prof. John Obafunwa, who shared personal insights on how forensic science can help resolve social issues and his interesting journey as a forensic pathologist.

On August 13, 2024, the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) declared the Mpox outbreak a Public Health Emergency of Continental Security (PHECS) due to a resurgence of cases in parts of Africa and the emergence of a new, more transmissible strain of the virus known as clade 1b. This declaration was made by the Director General of Africa CDC, Dr Jean Kaseya.

Mpox diagnosis often relies on PCR tests, but these tests alone do not provide enough information to effectively manage public health concerns making Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) crucial.
Illumina provides two robust genomic surveillance solutions including Viral Surveillance Panel and Illumina Microbial Amplicon Prep (iMAP), both with easy-to-use data analysis software. The best choice of product depends on number of cases, lab infrastructure, and the need to identify co-infection and co-morbidities.
