Day 91
During a coaching conversation with a CEO of a company, I had this story unfold. The concern the CEO had was, no matter how much he tried his team just wouldn't understand the core objective. According to him he had tried every leadership skill but in vain. I smiled and he was happy to hear. Once a young man in his late 40's went to the doctor as he was not keeping too well. He had been having severe neck pain, bad headache and frequent dizziness. The doctor examined him and after getting some tests done told him you have only 6 months to live. He was in for a big shock and asked the doctor to pls check carefully, but checking again didn't change anything. He with a very heavy heart left the clinic. On his way back he decided to live every dream he had on his bucket list in the remaining 6 months. He stopped near a cloth store and bought beautiful and the most expensive silk fabrics as he always wanted to wear silk shirts. He went to his tailor and said he wanted the 3 silk shirts stitched in a particular style. The tailor acknowledged and said I will need to take ur measurements. While taking his measurements the tailor said, ok so that will be a size 16. The man immediately said no I am a size 13. The tailor said sure let me recheck & he took the measurements again and said no sir ur a size 16. The man got angry and said no I have always been wearing a size 13 and that's what u will stitch. The tailor said sure I have no problem I will do as u say, but sir if u wear a size 13 you might get a constant neck pain, regular headache and frequent dizziness as ur posture is getting hit. The CEO smiled and left. A fortnight later he called and said I have changed my shirt size and now all's good.

Reflection by Dr Anjana https://www.dhirubhai.net/in/anjanavinod
(Let me begin with a disclaimer - the story by no means is challenging the capability of doctors. Its for a metaphorical use only.) Reflect in life, how often we get stuck to what we believe is true without being willing to accept things could be also done differently. Our experience and the wins or success we have has kind of reassured us that this is the only way to do things. When we are open to change our belief system too needs to be agile to accept change. Being stuck with what we think and believe could land us with the size 13 shirt. The stress of 6 months to live got us to think and accept change but why have that ultimatum to accept change. Life is all about updating and challenging our belief system & seeing if it needs a system update. The best part is we can see this size 13 in other people and are happy to jump in and point or even guide them to say what they need to change, but somehow we love our size 13 shirts and never want to change them. They say time changes everything but the truth is you have to change it yourself. Remember growth is painful and so is change but the worst pain is in being stuck where we don't belong. The Irony of life is although we all know that results of our efforts only come when we move out of our comfort zone but that's where we love to live. I remember my daughter's coach once told her to run 30 rounds of a 200 mts circle when she returned fully exhausted he said lets start the day. He told her all players play but the winner is the one who tries one last time and for that we need to push ourselves out of our comfort zone. Just a quick reminder not all positive changes look or feel positive at the beginning. Lets begin our journey to find our size 16 shirt by changing our perspective. Let's not continue fighting to prove the old but focusing on building the new. Let's go ahead in life and service our minds and upgrading the software to run our life smoothly as we still have a chance because tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet
