We started calling back used flex from our branches !

Muthoot Pappachan Foundation (MPF) as part of its environmental friendly initiatives started 2 projects.

1. SUCHITHA SWM MODEL:

 We are supporting a novel technology in Solid Waste Management invented by ‘Innovation Experience’ which is going to be the talk in this sector, which can convert bio-degradable waste to dry manure in just couple of hours. This patent awaited prototype is approved by Kerala Agriculture University and we are coming up with the pilot model operated by women groups. This organic manure will be used in our organic farms and Flex Reuse project which in turn helps the soil to become rich with nutrients. We are studying on the functional aspects of this model and going forward, we will see how this can be adopted as a project for the women groups of our Micro finance division as a livelihood programme.  

2. REUSE OUR FLEX: GROW OUR OWN VEGETABLES

We widely use flex prints to publicize our business related news and announce our new products. A good number of flex banners are used in our branches. What is happening to these flex afterwards is still a question. We are now going to collect this used flex from our branches and convert it to ‘Grow Bags’ to cultivate vegetables. Urban farming has become a passion now and there are growing demand for grow bags.

Here we are going to make 3 changes. Primarily we can avoid the quantity of plastic coming to market in the form of new grow bags. Secondly, this is going to be a livelihood project for the rural women groups. And finally, we can grow organic vegetables on our own. The first batch of bags were distributed to our HO staff  on 5th June. And going forward we are planning to equip our Micro finance units in each districts to deal the flex locally.
