We are on a stage not knowing what is the scene next

There is a famous book named “ Think and grow rich”. Here the author in its very first chapter has given a reference to a story where he has the answer to this question. Once there was a man leaving nearer to the rural regions of U.S.A. The news of getting rich by digging soil and getting gold came into his ears. He also found out that most of the people were getting profit from this business. So, one day he took money loan from the bank took land in a lease and started his mining activity. He started getting money instantly as if luck was by his side.

One day misfortune hit him hard. He mined that day again and again in search of gold but only found dust. Getting frustrated by this work he left the work sold his machine to a junk man for some dollars and moved away in a hope not to return. Well, that junk man was not stupid like others, he brought a site engineer and asked him to estimate the depth in which he can get gold. According to the engineer, the gold was just present 3 foot below where the previous owner left his Work. He started digging and just as estimated he got the gold just 3 foot below the surface. So, the moral of the story is that “ we humans give up too soon”.

Now, Coming to the question - “ why some people change their goals constantly and arrive at nowhere in life”? Ans- We give up too soon. Yes, we don’t know what’s going to happen with us in the very next moment, then why do we have life goals? Life is all about what happens to you while you are busy planning different things. The words are “optimism” and “Planning”. We need to be optimistic that whatever we are planning to do might not end up the way we want it to be but whatever the outcome will be, its going to be good for us.

Future is uncertain but that does not mean that we should just stop having life goals. Whatever the destiny makes us achieve becomes the ultimate goal of our lives. I always wanted to pursue recruitment but never knew that I would end up finding passion in writing. Who knew that Priyanka Chopra will become an international sensation. Who knew that Sridevi will leave the world at the age of 54 and Amitabh Bacchan is still acting in movies and doing role of a 102 year old father in his coming movie.

Who knew that a mother of two children, a social influencer will die at the age of 40 because of sugar. Who knew that I would meet a complete stranger in South India and get happily married to him? Did the 300 children in Syria knew that they would get killed? Did Shekhar know that his father would leave him just when he turned 30, leaving all the responsibilities on the shoulders of him. Who knew that the indefinite promises of staying in love, getting married, having children and blah blah results in divorce and breakups just after few months.

The list can go endless but my point is that we never know what is going to happen next and It might nit be a part of our life goals and plan at all but uncertainty is always there and life always gives us surprises and shocks. We still hope. We still plan. We still see long term. We still love. We still stay positive and that my friend is the true essence of life. Thanks to early humans who spent their lives eating new foods and experimenting so that today we know which foods are poisonous and which ones are not. (spoiler alert - they probably died after eating toxic foods).

That early man of stone age who discovered fire by accident is no more. He did not plan to do so. It just happened. The people who spent decades sculpting our language systems and culture are no more. Thanks to people who took time to documented it for our reference now. Thomas Alva Edison tested around 3000 designs before inventing the first light bulb. He could have even died even before inventing the bulb. (Fact - He did die at the age of 84 due to complications in diabetes after 40 years from inventing the bulb). The probably that he could did not stop him from marching towards his goal.

Thanks to Samuel Johnson who spent 8 years in complying words for the first English dictionary. The purpose of human life is death. The purpose of a goal is direction. Do we need direction for death? Certainly not. The purpose of our soul manifesting into a life form is to expand. Goals give our souls a direction to expand. We may not know what will happen the next moment. But could be certain that the present moment will be infused with fullness and satisfaction to our purpose we find to define our lives with.

We are like that tiny droplet in the ocean of existence. We may die one day for sure. Maybe even the next second. But our creations and contributions are the ripples that we can create that will have a great impact even after we dissolve in the cosmos like that tiny little droplet leaving ripples greater than itself.
