We at SIG: interview with Debora Sodre in celebration of International Volunteer Day
Débora Higino Sodré , Marketing Coordinator in the Americas, dedicates her weekends to supporting refugee children and families in Brazil. Her passion for making a difference extends far beyond her professional role.
What motivated you to get involved in volunteering with refugee children?
I love working with children and teenagers, and I saw an opportunity to make a difference by helping Venezuelan and other refugee families adapt to life in Brazil.
What has been the most impactful or memorable part of your volunteering experience?
Seeing the joy on children’s faces when they receive donations or when we connect through Spanish or Portuguese. Knowing I can bring a little love and hope to their lives makes it all worth it.
How has volunteering influenced you personally or professionally?
It’s deepened my gratitude for what I have and strengthened my commitment to helping others. The experience has shown me the value of community support in building brighter futures.
Debora is one of the employees who got involved in our #volunteerforbetter campaign, leading up to International Volunteer Day on December 5th.
Each story reminded us that no effort is too small to make a difference. Whether it’s organizing community meals, teaching underprivileged children, or cleaning up public spaces, our volunteers are the driving force behind positive change.?
