We Should Talk ~ about the business of beauty

Last night, I dreamt that I was at a beauty industry trade show. And it was absolutely wonderful!

There was stylish lighting and tasteful exhibits, new products and packaging on display, and innovation around every corner.

I was taking photos and chatting with brands and suppliers. My calendar was full of appointments for video interviews that I was set to film throughout the day.

And I was so glad to see that you were there too.

I miss us. I miss travel, whether it’s traveling downtown to meet for lunch, across town for a networking event, or overseas for an industry show that brings together beauty industry experts from around the world.

But even when I am actually at the largest of trade shows, it’s the one-on-one conversations that I like best. That’s where I hear from you about what’s now, and new, and next in beauty. And that’s how so many of the best professional relationships begin.

Which is why I am hoping that you’ll call me!

My thanks to everyone who already has

In mid-April, I made a post here on LinkedIn inviting indie beauty brand leaders and aspiring entrepreneurs to reach out by phone or FaceTime chat. And not long after that, I opened my calendar up to any and all cosmetics and personal care industry pros.

And since then, I’ve gotten to speak with so many of you: indie brand leaders and new brand owners making waves in skin care, hair care, fragrance, wellness, etc. I've gotten to speak with beauty law experts, investors, environmental consultants, PR pros, packaging insiders, beauty tech innovators, retail specialists, and more!

I’ve gotten to see and connect with beauty industry allies in France, Australia, New Zealand, Dubai, Canada, all across the US, and right here in New York City too!

It’s a great chance to trade notes on this moment, to share beauty business news, ask and answer questions about any number of topics from packaging, to ingredient sourcing, to ecommerce, to social media, to consumer or formulation trends…you name it.

These calls are keeping us connected (and helping me stay sane too; let’s face it, all this social distancing is a bit inhumane).
