We shared a dream, and made magic!

We all have ideas a dime a dozen. Ideas sparked from a bad service experience, inspiration from a book or a day dream on a lazy afternoon.

I am no exception, a typical dreamer, who gets lost in the world of ideas, but has no idea (pun intended) how to make them real! So one sunny COVID morning, when I was particularly missing my fun workplace and colleagues, my brain went on its own "how might we..." trip!

That would have been the end of the story, except that I now worked at Microsoft, and our mission is to enable every person on this planet to achieve more!

So this one time, I held on to my idea and registered a hack project for the Microsoft Hackathon 2020, our annual Hackathon that gives each of us the opportunity to make our dreams into reality.

Days passed, life happened and I had all but forgotten about this. I was in the middle of a Teams call when my phone blinked - One person was actually interested in being a part of my hack project team! The one person quickly became two and two became four! By the time the hackathon D-day dawned, I had a sixteen people strong hack team!

Many of us were strangers, except for the Microsoft connection. We lived in different time zones, spoke different languages and worked in different jobs! But what had brought us together was that one idea. For the next three days, this group of strangers literally put their lives on hold to pour their passion into this idea and make it into a reality!

Very proud and very humbled to announce that our Hacakthon project made it to the top 3 in the Hack for Microsoft category. The experience of seeing a seed of an idea become a reality and get appreciated on such a global canvas is surreal.
