We See You, We Support You.
In our work to advance Black excellence in all areas of society, we often focus our attention on the discrimination and lack of diversity that keeps straight, cisgender, Black men and women from reaching our full potential. Yet, because of our implicit bias, we don’t always acknowledge the intersectionality of the identities that make our community so special.
As allies, I believe we have a responsibility to use #PrideMonth and every month to embrace our friends, family members, neighbors, colleagues, and anyone else we know who is a part of the LGBTQ+ community. To stay vigilant and informed in our fight for equality along with the implementation and sustainability of more diverse corporate leadership, we must create space and be intentional about how we uplift?all?the members of our respective communities -- not just the ones we relate to the most.?
All of us deserve to live and celebrate our truths. Our differences don’t define who we are as people, but they give us the opportunity to truly see ourselves in one another. So, when we choose to say, “I see you and I support you,” we stand on the side of progress; making one small step to narrow any divide that allows ignorance and hate to eclipse acceptance and love.?
Happy #Pride!
