We Will Return

Many of you are aware that on Sunday March 15th (The Ides of March) the Peace Corps made the decision to evacuate all of our volunteers from the 61 countries where they were serving due to the global pandemic.

In 7 1/2 days we successfully evacuated roughly 7,000 volunteers from some of the most remote spots on earth and got them back home safely. It was a herculean effort and could be described by some as our finest hour.

So what happens next? We are planning to return to all of the countries that we temporarily left when it is safe to do so. While we don't have a specific day, date and time please know that we will be back at some point in the future.

For those of you who may have thought about joining the Peace Corps now is a good time to learn more about what opportunities we'll have going forward. For those of you who may be a little older remember there are no age limits to serving in the Peace Corps and we've had volunteers in their 70's serve at different posts across the world. The world will need the service of Peace Corps volunteers more than ever in the future.

David what an incredible effort it must have been to evacuate 7,000 volunteers in 7 1/2 days. I imagine your military training and experience were of great help. Congratulations to the Peace Corps team for all it has done, all it is doing and all it will do in the future.
