Head of Strategy and Fundraising at WE RESTART Charity
Brent Cross Town, the transformative 180-acre regeneration project delivered through a partnership between Barnet Council and Related Argent, has announced the winners of its 2024 Brent Cross Town Community Fund. Among the five winning projects is We Restart's Art Café, a ground breaking initiative supporting asylum seekers in the Brent Cross area.
Now in its sixth year, the Brent Cross Town Community Fund specifically supports clubs and community projects that enhance skills development, employment readiness, and education outcomes. This year, Barnet residents cast nearly 1,400 votes to select five winners from a shortlist of seven projects, showcasing the community’s dedication to uplifting local initiatives.
The Art Café, led by We Restart, addresses the critical need for skills development and employment readiness among asylum seekers in the Brent Cross area. Through weekly workshops focused on Art, English, and British Culture, participants gain practical skills, build confidence, and enhance their employability. The programme prepares asylum seekers for future roles in creative industries while fostering a sense of community and belonging.

In the past year, We Restart has made significant strides in supporting asylum seekers and refugees across London. The charity has established Art Sanctuaries in North West London, delivering impactful art programmes like the Art Café for adults. These spaces provide asylum seekers with opportunities to express themselves creatively, develop new skills, and rebuild their lives.
Cristina Cellini Antonini, Head of Strategy and Fundraising at We Restart, expressed her gratitude and hopes for the future: "Our hope is to open many more Art Sanctuaries across the UK to support children, young people, and adults. We strongly believe that art will save the world, and through art, people can give new meaning to their lives. We are incredibly grateful to the funders, the amazing people who voted for us, and all our partners. Together, we can reshape our community through the Arts. Our dream for the future is to see more Councils join our Art Sanctuary Project."
This win is a significant milestone for We Restart, enabling the Art Café to expand its reach and impact in Brent Cross and beyond. With the continued support of the Brent Cross Town Community Fund and the local community, We Restart is poised to lead a cultural and social transformation, bringing hope and opportunity to those who need it most.

1 个月In these trying times I am finding charities are getting reduced revenue ( even from established supporters) but demand is up. I have had a commercial Art gallery for over 40 years ( google Brandler Galleries or better "Brandler Seasons Greetings" and you will see that art is a great way of generating publicity for a charity / charity event. So when they have a golf day / dinner dance / clay pigeon shoot etc ( events where you have an experience , a meal then fundraise) and a charity auction either online or live , I supply artwork ( damien Hirst CD RESERVE £135- last one fetched £800 = £665- for charity) up to original Banksy PIeces , one sold 14 months ago for £120,000. There is no Downside , no upfront costs , the worst is you return anything that does not get reserve BUT YOU STILL get media coverage as Banksy = press !?Press = more tickets sold & better attendance . What is the charity that you are head of fundraising for ? John Brandler 07717 857986
