We are Respiratory

We are Respiratory

This Respiratory Care week let us band together and congratulate each other on our chosen profession.

We are not a household name, we are not characters on a medical TV show, nor do small children want to grow up to be us. But they should. We are the closest thing in the hospital to a real-life hero. Our patients are always the sickest, the most critical, crashing, the smallest in the NICU or the ECMO patient. We are a profession that is used to running in and saving the day like no other inside the hospital. We are the experts, we are called when everyone else is out of ideas, or let’s face it when they are scared and need us to save the patient and themselves. We need to be proud of who and what we are, because we are amazing. Please embrace your coworkers, band together, stick up for each other this week and always.

By the way when you are out there in the “real world” make sure and speak up, let everyone know; No we are not Doctor’s, we are not nurses, we are something totally different and amazing . We are Respiratory Therapists!
