We Remember

Today is Memorial Day, the day we set aside to specifically remember those who have given their all for our nation and our freedom.

?

We take time today to honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice so we can speak freely without fear of legal retribution, the freedom to assemble, the freedom to practice our religion, and be spiritual, but mostly the freedom to be ourselves in life, liberty, and our pursuit of happiness.

?

With over a million lives lost since the inception of our great nation, we have much to remember. The best way we remember individuals is by repeating their stories and legacies. Since the Homeric Epics, we have cherished and honored people by retelling their stories.

?

Whether you gather and march in a parade, a cemetery, a barbeque, a campfire, or by yourself today, remember to share and tell their stories, for that is the thread that connects us throughout history.

Aaron Burden
“In great deeds, something abides. On great fields, something stays. Forms change and pass; bodies disappear; but spirits linger, to consecrate ground for the vision-place of souls… generations that know us not and that we know not of, heart-drawn to see where and by whom great things were suffered and done for them, shall come to this deathless field, to ponder and dream; and lo! the shadow of a mighty presence shall wrap them in its bosom, and the power of the vision pass into their souls.”
