You most likely know that a good onboarding process is critical to employee engagement and retention. Statistics show that retention is increased by over 80% and productivity by more than 70% when businesses implement a strong onboarding program. Much has been written about getting new hires on the road to success. But we want to encourage you to take your onboarding to the next level. Here are a few ideas to consider:?

  1. ?? Make a Good Impression - Get your new hire excited before they even begin. Send a welcome package with company swag or other goodies representing your company's culture. Give them a peek into their training schedule via email. This will help to engage them from the start.
  2. ?? Make Communication a Priority - Announcing your new hire in an email and your next meeting is nice but take this a step further by adding extra information and a photo to your message. Include this material in your latest newsletter and encourage your team to reach out with greetings and questions.?
  3. ?? Make Use of the Buddy System - Pairing a new hire with a colleague can be a positive experience for everyone. It is a great way to promote your company culture and create team cohesiveness. Encourage the new buddies to meet regularly and use that time for questions and answers.?

Your onboarding process doesn’t have to be set in stone. Talk to your team members about the improvements that can be made and continue raising the level of your methods. There are always new ideas to add as your business grows, so don’t be afraid to make the necessary changes.?
