We Recruit Well | December 2024

If you’ve followed us for any time, you know how much we love good books. And if you’re looking for a unique twist on learning, why not bring the joy of reading into your workplace with a book club focused on growth and leadership? Here are some of our favorite tips to make things fresh and engaging:

  1. ?? Interactive Challenges - Don't just read; do! After you dive into a book, set up a challenge related to its key themes. For example, apply a new communication strategy from your latest read in your next team presentation. Then, circle back to chat about the experience. What changed? What clicked?
  2. ?? Mentor Match - Mix it up with a "mentor partner" for each book. It’s a fantastic way to reflect on the book’s lessons, exchange personal insights, and keep each other accountable. Make sure to shuffle partners regularly to keep things fresh and ideas flowing.
  3. ??? Book Club Retreat - Who says you can’t mix books with a little escape? If it’s feasible, plan a retreat, either virtual or in person, focused on unpacking the insights gathered from your readings. Use this time to set personal and professional goals inspired by your discussions.
  4. ??? Mini-Ted Talks - Turn your usual book discussions on their head by having members deliver their own mini "Ted Talk" on what struck them the most. It’s a great way for everyone to hone their public speaking skills and share personal revelations.

We challenge you to ditch the old, stuffy book club model and create a vibrant, engaging space where everyone is excited to learn, share, and grow. Happy reading, and even happier discussing!

Until next time,

Beth and Paige
