We received exciting DAC Hub news from U.S. DOE

Dear friends of carbon removal,

We're extremely proud to share that the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) selected three out of three?applications that Climeworks participated in under the DOE's Regional DAC Hubs program!?The first one, Project Cypress in Louisiana, is designed with a?pathway toward megaton capacity by 2030, making it one of the first DAC projects of this scale in the United States. The two other projects, Prairie Compass DAC Hub in North Dakota and California DAC Hub in California, are among?five projects to engage in a front-end engineering design (FEED) study.

U.S. DOE selected three applications Climeworks participated in

The U.S. is an important, strategic market for Climeworks because of its favorable political and commercial environment and its potential for our project development efforts. To accelerate our?U.S. growth, we?participated in three applications for public funding as part of the U.S. DOE's Regional DAC Hubs program . The applications differ in their categories?according to the maturity?of the projects and the available funding. Project Cypress?in Louisiana belongs to category TA-3 (Build), whereas the California DAC Hub in California and the Prairie Compass DAC Hub in North Dakota belong to category TA-2 (Design). We're excited to be a part of these projects together with our partners!

Our co-founder and co-CEO Jan Wurzbacher comments: “This year, Climeworks participated in three applications as part of the U.S. DOE's DAC Hubs program – I am very pleased and honored that all three were selected by the DOE! The fact that the DOE, empowered by the White House and Congress to invest billions of dollars, has selected the projects involving Climeworks is an important recognition of our decade-long experience in DAC technology and our ability to bring to life high-quality carbon removal. I want to thank all project partners and all Climeworkers for their contributions and dedication to the task at hand and the overall journey. I am looking forward to the next steps with everyone involved, to bring high-quality, high-integrity carbon removal via DAC to the U.S.”

Carbon catch-up with The Nature Conservancy and JPMorgan Chase & Co.

The DOE's announcement from mid-August is exciting news for the industry. The DAC Hubs program will no doubt accelerate the scale up of the technology in the U.S. and beyond, but strong demand from the private sector is still urgently needed to build the market for carbon removal services. We want discuss the key steps for companies to develop a robust carbon removal portfolio with? Katharine Hayhoe (Chief Scientist at the The Nature Conservancy ) and Brian DiMarino (Head of Operational Sustainability at 摩根大通 ).?
