Are we really allowing ourselves to learn from our mistakes?

How many times we have heard that in life we learn a lot from our failures, and most of the times we even heard that we can learn more from them than from our successes. However, the truth is that we don't acquire meaningful learning just by living those experiences.
To be able to learn from failures, successes or both, a key element could be to remove all the negative emotions experienced. How many times those feelings of impotence, pain, uncertainty, frustration, guilt and others we experience during a failure, or those that produce excessive ego, overconfidence or relaxation of discipline, effort, and /or motivation after living a successful experience, blind us and don't allow us to understand what happened. In doesn't help us to understand either how that happened and what to do about it, and as a result, it becomes really difficult to learn from those experiences or to continue learning from them.
Therefore, we might need to remove those negative emotions so we can get ready to analyse what happened and open ourselves to really learn as much as possible from those experiences.
Another key component could be to be able to forgive ourselves for all the mistakes and omissions done and don't allow ourselves to play victim with what happened. We need to assume full accountability for those mistakes as a necessary condition for a real learning process to take place.
I don't know anybody that doesn't want to learn from both failures or successes. We all would like to learn from everything we go through in life, but in order for us to be able to do it, we need to make conscious, that even to learn, we need to decide what we would like to learn and why we need to learn that (purpose)
We also need to know our own learning style and the best practices for our particular learning style based on our own personality, way of thinking and way of being, how much we would like to learn, for how long, how are going to put it to work and what use we will give to that that learning. What do you think?
