Covid-19 is an industry disruption that has acutely sharpened focus on the dependence on virtual systems & platforms to work & collaborate & has thereby accelerated the build up of digitization across the board, even in traditional brick & mortar businesses. All practices & processes are now rapidly transitioning from touching paper to touching screens, greatly enhancing the digital learning curve of the collective workforce as even non-traditional heavy users of technology had have to needfully pivot.
Non digital natives, have probably learnt more about apps/tools/software's in the last 3 months than the previous 3 years combined. During this period I seem to have used more Virtual Meeting Apps than the fingers on my right hand & of course, every single meeting was recorded. This en masse capability building on new ways of working is an interesting phenomena, personal efficiencies have peaked, part by leveraging digital & part by going into ‘turbo mode’ to manage the Covid curveball. This maybe one of the few silver linings in a particularly dark cloud.
The learning environment itself is kind, in that patterns are repetitive &, feedback is accurate & immediate; there are only so many ways your slides wont load, your voice may crack/the line may have static or the wifi maybe weak & when you hit 4 pm, adding a vibrant background or whiteboarding powerful ideas so others can pitch in are add on perks. The world of work itself has evolved, today AI can help identify the right talent from thousand of resumes, provide realistic job previews & assess competencies, Bots can drive early engagement & flag off flight risks & Simulations can recreate real life environments for gamified learning & develop skills, in fact even the Office Reopening Do's & Dont's are summarized in a crisp 3 minute video for the townhall.
Given Moravec’s paradox, that humans & machines frequently have opposite strengths & weaknesses; this is an opportunity to craft a great win for the business with our complementary strengths. The question is, are we ready for it?

4 年Absolutely agreed Saumya Khati Ma'am, human and machine have opposite strengths and weaknesses. Human being having endless creative ideas, energy, learning and growth attributes and hope whereas machines have power of accuracy and speed. In fact both are complementary to one another which produce unexpected and in unprecedented results. The important question is are we ready to grab this opportunity of technological advancement? My observation in Indian context is that we are at 50-50 stage, while some organisations are adopting more and more of highly advance technological and integration tools and processes for daily operation, HR processes and analysis, some companies are operating with conventional tools and techniques and methods and even don't bother for updating their outdated softwares. Leadership in Indian companies need understand the importance of technology and it's economic benefits at large scale.
