We are ready to fall
What if you could identify exactly what’s stopping you from moving forward? Or learn to move through life with the ease of an acrobat? This week’s edition is all about breaking free from our fears and discovering the supports that let us flow seamlessly into new adventures. This is our agenda:
?? Keep moving, we all fall anyway
A few weeks ago, I grappled with an unsettling emptiness, searching for something new to reignite my enthusiasm. Despite my array of hobbies, none seemed appealing these days. That's when the thought struck me: "Why don't I learn to skate?" On a whim, I Googled skating classes and booked my first session for the next day.
I remembered that I bought my first pair of skates twelve years ago. After one fall, I had tucked them away, deterred by the thought of failing again. But here's what I've learned about skating since then: it's awkward and beautiful at the same time. You're perpetually aware of the eight wheels under your feet, and with each step, there's a lingering fear of tumbling.
During my first couple of lessons, fully equipped for safety, I skated along a beautiful coastline at sunset, yet my eyes were fixed firmly on the ground, too worried to fall. One of the first lessons from my instructor was how to fall and get back up—it was simple:
? Get back on your knees.
? Place your hands on the ground.
? Push forward to stand up.?
It sounded reassuring, but when I actually fell during the third class in front of a crowded beach, it didn't go as rehearsed. Life hits in unexpected ways, and there's no way of romanticizing a fall. Yet, getting up was just as taught: straightforward and always the same.?
I found myself laughing with joy instead of feeling embarrassed. The fear I had built up all those years suddenly seemed trivial. At the end, we all fall, and there is no learning without a fall.
What's calling you these days? Is there something new you're hesitant to try? Are there fears holding you back from taking that first shaky step forward?
?? Going beyond your fears
As we explore new paths, the right support can make all the difference, allowing us to move more freely and with greater confidence. The French artist and acrobat Bastien Dausse (@bastiendausse) is a great example. He has embraced the wonders of anti-gravity to transform his artistry. Bastien uses a cutting-edge device that lets him float effortlessly, almost like defying the constraints of ground-based movements.
This device isn’t just a tool; it’s a partner in his creative expression, supporting him as he explores movements that would be impossible under normal circumstances. In his performances, which can be seen in captivating videos like the ones on his Instagram page, Bastien flows through the air with a fluidity that seems almost otherworldly. The security this device provides isn’t just physical—it frees him to push the boundaries of what his body can do, knowing he’s held safely in its grasp.
