We are QIC: Episode 8

Tell us what you do at QIC digital hub and what you like about it.

I’m leading the PR unit in QIC digital hub’s marketing team, where I’m responsible for meditizing our brand narrative, ensuring that our digital solutions get the right attention by news media and business publications, and that QIC is remarkably present in key industry rankings and consistently recognized by external stakeholders for its digital innovation. The cool thing about this outreach exercise is keeping people informed about how their digital insurance experiences are being reshaped, and helping them make informed decisions when choosing QIC as an insurer that guarantees worry-free living, driving and traveling journeys.

Tell us about your previous experience.

Prior to joining QIC, I was part of one of the fastest-growing marcomm consultancy agencies in Qatar, where I used to consult clients in different industries, including banking, development finance, R&D, and aviation. I also have experience in media research in addition to a background in journalism and editing.

Where are you from and where do you live now?

I spent my childhood and teenage years in a small city called Azilal in the Atlas Mountains in Morocco, prior to moving to the capital city of Rabat for my undergraduate studies. I then moved to Qatar to pursue my graduate degree in media studies, and I've been based in Doha since then.

Top 3 reasons to visit you?

Doha is a must-visit city for culture enthusiasts. We have many museums and fascinating galleries here, in addition to lots of world-class cultural events happening all year long.

If you are into sports, then you have plenty of reasons to stop by, as the city hosts some of the most exciting international tournaments on an annual basis, such as the ATP and WTA Qatar Open, the famous Qatar F1 Grand Prix, the Doha Diamond athletics league and much more. You can also seize the opportunity of being in Qatar to attend a football game in one of the iconic FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 stadiums.

The food landscape is also amazing in Doha. Visitors can find and enjoy lots of mouthwatering options catering to all their needs, and I have my own extended list of GCC, Levantine or Persian recipes that you must try when visiting the city :)

What do you do outside of work? What makes you tick?

I always try to attend as many sporting events as possible in my free time. I’m a big fan of the national football league, so you will most likely find me in the stands every now and then, cheering for Al Sadd SC.

I’m also an active member of the QIC Running Club, so I spend most of my early morning training. I finished my first ever timed competition in February, and I’m now preparing for the upcoming Doha Marathon in a few months from now.

I’m a frequent traveler as well, and discovering new destinations and cultures has been something that feeds my curiosity to learn new things.

An unforgettable impression from your many travels

It is hard to recall a single unforgettable impression from a specific trip of mine, but I’m always left impressed when I visit places that I have no idea about. I have visited some countries without having any knowledge about the place, so each moment I spent there was a moment of discovery that left me impressed.

What childhood dreams have you realized?

I’ve always believed that dreams are processes rather than being an arrival line to cross. In this sense, some of my childhood dreams I’m continuously realizing are keeping eager to discover new things, and always being dedicated to continuous improvement.

What does it take to PR something?

Good PR professionals should be able to mediatize their narratives to themselves first, otherwise any attempt to impactfully pass the salt to others will be a wrong exercise.?

What would be your motto or favorite aphorism or quote?

Do it with passion, or not at all!
