We Are Puppets of Our Mind Until We Wake Up
Our brain is designed to carry out our intentions, yet more often than not, we find ourselves succumbing to the whims of our own minds.
Have you ever stopped to consider that much of our contemporary suffering is essentially a fabrication? This phenomenon arises from our constant adherence to the internal narratives echoing in our heads, blurring the line between our identity and the voice within.
While genuine hardships exist in events like war, floods, earthquakes, or shortages, modern society has birthed a unique strain of suffering—a suffering grounded in a distorted, self-created reality. It emerges from the narratives we craft and sincerely believe in.
Our suffering is, to a large extent, a consequence of our beliefs.
Each of us harbors personal narratives:
These narratives shape our perspectives, making us susceptible to irritation when confronted with conflicting information. Social media posts, mistakes by colleagues, or the perceived wrongs of others become triggers for anger, annoyance, criticism, and eventually, suffering.
This cascade of negative emotions is a product of our egos defending and reinforcing our beliefs. The incessant internal dialogue convinces us of our rightness, transforming us into unwitting puppets of our thoughts.
It's crucial to recognize that we are not the voices in our heads; rather, we are observers of these voices. Allowing these internal narratives to take control is akin to unleashing a monster within ourselves.
The path to liberation lies in awakening from this puppetry of thought. Achieving a nonjudgmental mind signifies the great awakening. By cultivating the ability to be a detached observer of our thoughts rather than being entangled in them, we empower ourselves. This shift allows our minds to harmonize with our true beliefs, providing us with a clearer understanding of reality.
