“We owe him an open mind and the chance to lead.”
President Elect Donald Trump.

“We owe him an open mind and the chance to lead.”

Gracious and wise conciliatory words from Hillary Clinton in the face of the most seismic presidential election upheaval in America’s history. I wasn't sold on either candidate but we are where we are!

There are those who dreamed and those who feared – but I suspect few who at the start of this long campaign ever believed that Donald Trump would be elected 45th President of the United States.

Brexit ushered in a period of uncertainty and disruption on this side of the Atlantic and the Trump victory will inevitably create a period of instability on the other side during the months ahead.

It’s not for us here in the UK to pass judgement on America’s election process or the outcome of its democratic process.

I believe it’s a time for open-mindedness, patience and the willingness to give Mr Trump the time and support needed to help him meet the demands of the highest office in the western world.

I’m confident that the special relationship between the UK and the US will remain strong and that we move into the future with our mutual respect and understanding intact.

Brexit has not resulted in the meltdown many predicted and I’m sure the same will be true as President Trump is sworn in in America.

Brexit proved that even in times of uncertainty and unrest the wheels of industry, trade and international co-operation keep turning.

It is in nobody’s interest to do otherwise.

If you don't really leave the EU as #Brexit voters wanted - and pressure other states to leave the EU also - our "relationship" will always be proxied through nationalist countries like Iceland, Russia, Israel. Nationalism and Patriotism has replaced "Conservatism" in our Party as we are not interesting in "Conserving" what was taken from us - but putting it back to its natural order. For Instance, Turkey and say Italy have no natural reason to be in a single government. its people and cultures are different.
