Ever really thought about ego & what it really means?
Ego is how we see ourselves, our self-image, how we want to be viewed, and how we want people to deal with us. We accept certain things, and take a strong stand when facing others.
We might even be deeply triggered if people saw us in a way not matching our image...
Ego has been programmed throughout childhood and experiences. It shaped us.. We modeled and witnessed some behaviours, we regarded some as acceptable or desirable, and other behaviours as "not acceptable".
Some would like to be viewed as influential, democrat, honest, or trustworthy, some would like to be viewed as strong, or maybe a sacrifier..The list is endless and variables are limitless
Very few people, know who they really are...
We often ask questions like "Am I strong or weak?", "Am I this or that?", and we are not really sure which one is true. When we think we are strong, images or thoughts of situations when we were being "Weak" comes up. Ego steps in and keeps a "strong" mask on. The truth: we are neither!
We are both strong and weak, courageous and fearful, positive and pessimistic, confident and doubtful, calm and nervous. We are a combination of all these opposites, and that makes our true selves. These are the polarities, and the ego is always blocking one of them, because one is painful. Once both integrate -which we can easily do- they become obvious and then we have a choice at any time to be either one of them.
Presidents of countries, celebrities, billionaires...all have self-doubts, with every change comes fears & self-doubts. And with this uncertain world, I can tell you, it’s okay, this is totally normal and valid!
These doubts are not us, these are doubts we believed about ourselves long before we were skeptical to choose differently. We don’t have to live by it from now on.. We can defy the odds!
So the next time you have doubts of who you are, "try" to work on the fact that you are both, and that you have a choice. I hear you, it is not easy, this kind of change is easily done on the subconscious level.
Remember, you always have a choice!
