Since launching the Delivery With Agility Newsletter last year, I am deeply humbled to have seen it grow to 6K+ subscribers in just 4 editions.

Despite not having been able to produce many more editions since then (for personal reasons), it is so encouraging to have received continued direct feedback from subscribers, sharing their stories, asking questions, seeking more information and requesting Delivery With Agility coaching and training.?

COMPLEMENTARY BLEND

Subscribers have said that they enjoy the complementary blend of topics covered: Leadership, Coaching, Marketing, Sales, Agility and Behavioural Science, as they all have one common thread:

People and Delivery!

Most importantly, it was the telling of real stories that seemed to stimulate?readers’ imagination and really help them to engage with the message in every single edition.


THE PROBLEM

It is clear that, whilst the newsletter is certainly delivering value, it’s not been easy for subscribers (YOU!) to progress their own situations, simply by posting questions in the comments of the newsletter itself or in the accompanying posts.

I have been repeatedly asked whether there is a dedicated Delivery With Agility social group or forum that subscribers could engage with, to share problems and ideas, to collaborate and compare experiences, to seek advice, to benefit from professional training and generally amplify the value of the newsletter.


FRUSTRATION

Indeed, I have also felt that same frustration when commenting on other people’s posts and attending online events. I wanted to delve deeper, collaborate with other like-minded people, on a range of connected topics that deliver valuable outcomes for my business, but there was nowhere to do so.

What my subscribers and I were seeking was a Community!


THE SOLUTION

Today I am delighted to announce that Delivery With Agility is now a Community!

WHAT DEFINES A COMMUNITY?

The Cambridge Dictionary defines community as follows:

“the people living in one particular area or people who are considered as a unit because of their common interests, social group, or nationality:”


It also says:

“on social media, a group of people who have similar interests or who want to achieve something together”



BELONGING

Mark Schaefer , best-selling author and Marketing Strategist, makes it clear in his inspiring book, "Belonging To The Brand", that for a community to thrive, members must feel a sense of belonging.

YOU will feel that you belong to the Delivery With Agility Community!



COMMUNITY HOME

From an online perspective, in order for a community to share their common interests to learn and grow, they need a place to do it.?

A community needs somewhere to live, somewhere that can be called “Home”.


COMMUNITY PLATFORM

In today’s digital world, a dedicated cloud-hosted social platform is that ideal place.

Readily accessible by community members, it facilitates engagement, connection, collaboration, exchange of ideas, innovation, experimentation, learning and continual improvement (Kaizen).

I researched the leading SaaS community platforms and found them inflexible, with most locking in a huge long-term dependency, making it challenging to migrate elsewhere later.

I wanted something adaptable, independent, fit for purpose and scalable as our Community grows.

"So...I built it myself!"

Yes, I know that sounds extreme, but building the Community Cloud Platform myself, provides a number of strategic short-term and long-term advantages.

However, it’s important to remember that a community is not simply a Cloud Platform or any software-driven system.

A real community is its people, YOU!


THE PURPOSE OF OUR COMMUNITY

Every community has an underlying reason for existing. Those?“common interests”, cited in the Cambridge Dictionary definition above, are a fundamental reason.

So, what are those common interests?

Our Community has been born from the subscribers to the Delivery with Agility newsletter.

But surely, subscribing to a newsletter doesn’t justify forming a community around it? ??

If this were true, every national and local newspaper would have a vibrant community behind it.


DELIVERY!

Feedback from most Delivery With Agility Newsletter subscribers demonstrates that you are like-minded in at least one area.?

You possess a mindset or an interest, which is synonymous with that of the author (me!).?

A mindset that underpins everything that Delivery With Agility has always stood for, first and foremost: Delivery.


WHAT'S IN A NAME??

Why Agility?

Agility, in all its forms, is what will get you there. Agility will enable you to Deliver effectively.

Having business agility, personal agility, emotional agility, community agility, and importantly, persuasive agility, will give you an unfair advantage over your competitors, empowering you to deliver the outcomes that you seek like never before.


NOT ALL ABOUT AGILE

Let’s set the record straight, it’s not simply about Agile.?

Agile (as per the Agile Manifesto) is only part of the story.

We have had more than 20 years of Agile (in various forms) being “implemented” badly, only for observers to stand back and say:

“Well, that didn’t work!”.


They might as well have tried to boil an egg in an empty frying pan.

Egg on face or mostly on the ceiling? ??

Time for change!


IT'S ABOUT BUSINESS AGILITY

Business Agility is not just about doing the work or creating the product. It’s also about honing business agility, by minimising waste, with everything that happens before the work begins, after the work has started, and continuing until the product or service is deprecated.

Congratulations, Carl. I also read that book. It's impossible to be truly agile with a lot of extra baggage—you need to shed ~80% of your other activities. Just make sure that the 20% you focus on is ... The Right It :-). Best wishes to you!
