The passage, ‘Are you listening…Really listening?’ (Mark 4:9), reminds those who say they are going to spend more time listening to the people in their lives who matter, but fail to keep their promise that, those who we listen to, become the most important people in our lives and to be like them, we must learn to look directly at them, never interrupt and always suspend our judgement until the end. In other words, we shouldn’t belittle them by catching up on work, talking on the phone, or tweeting and texting while they are talking. So let the knowledge that: 1) Studies have shown that we forget 50 per cent of what we hear immediately, 80 per cent within a day, and 97 per cent within a week; 2) Great learners are great listeners, that is why they always have a flow of fresh ideas; and 3) We will never know how close we are to breakthroughs or blessings until we learn to listen; teach you, when you listen, to make understanding your goal, rather than just remembering facts!FG. www.fgtalks.com
