We Will Never Forget

We Will Never Forget

Remembrance Day is celebrated annually in North America and some regions of Europe. This is the date that marks the signing of the armistice between the Allied countries and Germany - the document formalized the end of World War I at 11:00 a.m. on the 11th day of November 1918. Remembrance Day is the opportunity we all have to remember all soldiers of all nationalities - people who left their wives, children, fathers, and mothers in their home countries. Men and women who have never had the opportunity to hug their loved ones once more. Human beings who fought and lost their lives in the face of coldness in the most diverse battlefields.

May this very important day encourage all human beings empathy and respect for differences. May all individuals, of all nationalities, of all languages and cultures, truly understand that intolerance was responsible for the greatest atrocities on the face of the earth. As established in the preamble to the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights, ignorance and contempt for human rights and fundamental freedoms led peoples to acts of barbarism that revolted the collective consciousness of humanity.

This is the official website in which it is possible to find additional information about ceremonies across Ontario: "https://www.ontario.ca/page/remembrance-day". Basically, the ceremony is composed by the moment of silence (to honour the courage, valour, and sacrifice of the heroes who have served – and continue to serve – Canada during times of war and conflict), and prayers.

Nunca Esqueceremos
