We need your help

Over 12,000 of you believe in our work. We’re leading the news - but there's so much more to do. Your £5 will make a real difference.

We’re just two journalists doing our bit - but to keep going, we need your support

Wow - Democracy For Sale has been on fire again!

Since the start of last week - that’s eight days ago! - our investigations have been picked up by the Times, the Observer, the Metro, Politico, Byline Times, the Irish News, the Belfast Telegraph and a host of other outlets.

Two regulators are considering launching formal investigations on the back of our revelations.

Stories on Democracy for Sale have been read more than 100,000 times in the past month. And more than 12,000 of you now subscribe to Democracy for Sale. That’s incredible, given we only got started a year ago.

We’ve got some really important investigations coming up, and big leads to chase down. But we need your help.?

You are a free subscriber. Will you take out a paid subscription now to support our? journalism?

Yes I'll pay for a subscription

We've written about dark money, dodgy donations and hidden influence for years - but now, finally, there’s a real chance to change the game.

After a disastrous start, Keir Starmer’s new government is under big pressure to clean up British politics.

This won’t happen on its own. On the campaign trail, Labour promised to ‘end sleaze’. Now in power, they’ve got all sorts of incentives not to change the status quo. That’s why we need hard-hitting journalism like ours - which lands all over the press, again and again - and which prompts action in the courts and from regulators. We must give them no other choice but to act: to close the loopholes that allow big money to distort our democracy. ?

That’s why we’re asking you to upgrade to a paid subscription if you can afford to.

For just £5 a month you can help us expose more lies, root out more corruption, and call out more hidden lobbying, dark money and hypocrisy.

Upgrade to paid

Every donation makes a real difference. Unlike many newsletters we don’t have a paywall: we want as many people as possible to read our investigations. That’s why our stories travel so far.?

Help keep Democracy for Sale free.

Thank you so much for your support.?

Peter: Could you investigate the connection between Central Asian criminal gangs and Roza Otunbayeva, the head of UNAMA? It's a fascinating story. There are also allegations of human rights violations during her government's tenure (2010-11) that require thorough investigative too. For context, please read my article about her, which covers suspicious criminal activities against her sister discovered by Kyrgyz journalist Bolot Temirov. https://www.dhirubhai.net/pulse/dark-side-un-corruption-failure-broken-promises-abbie-aryan-mzbxe/?trackingId=rgRYsJpkkx5zGEy0bNsUcg%3D%3D
