We need to stop taking water for granted. The time was yesterday, and our second-best option is today.

We need to stop taking water for granted. The time was yesterday, and our second-best option is today.

Sesame Street has been educating us for years on water conservation. My favorite, the infamous Frank the Fish, aired in February 1990.

We've been talking about the importance of water consumption for decades. In the United States, the conservation movement, founded by Gifford Pinchot, only began to gain popularity at the end of the 1800s.?

Consumers must realize how water is becoming increasingly scarce. For utility companies, there are challenges in communicating this critical message. Water is crying out for its own "plastic movement." When our watercourses are too chocked full of rubbish, too parched to flow, or deluged in global climate crises, we will sit up and think how vital water is. It's something most of us take for granted because there's a myth of abundance.

"We now live in a world of 'peak water,' where we over-tap, pollute, and abuse our most precious resource. We need a fundamental change in how we think about water," says Peter Gleick, founder of the Pacific Institute.

It takes companies and consumers working together to create a more sustainable future. Innovative technologies are helping not just in the consumption of water but also energy and gas and assist companies in being proactive vs. reactive and allowing consumers to become part of the solution. Leading tech company Smart Energy Water (SEW) makes this possible by bringing the two together. Its innovative and industry-leading cloud platforms powered by AI, ML, and IoT Analytics to the global energy, water, and gas providers make it possible to have a sustainable future.

The solution for a sustainable future is for utility companies to invest in this innovative technology before it is too late. Aside from all the business benefits for utility companies, it empowers consumers, adds value, makes the conversation less complicated, and is actionable in building a sustainable future.

Now is the time to work together and make a sustainable future possible for generations.
