We need to be mobile.. but how?

We need to be mobile.. but how?

Many companies struggle with questions like these:

"What are our immediate next steps in mobility? Should we build an app or a mobile web solution? How can we best create an integrated user experience?"

We were recently approached by a leading mortgage refinance company to help formulate a mobile strategy for them.

Challenge

One of the largest refinance companies in the U.S. realized rapid changes in consumer behavior and technological advancement presented substantial challenges to sustained growth. The client partnered with the Copper Mobile Strategy Group to find concrete new mobile opportunities that also drew upon the company’s core competencies. The goal of the effort was to identify next steps in mobility, and offset the impact of the changing business landscape.

 Discovery

The Copper Mobile team first had to understand and empathize with the challenges Mortgage Connect faced within its competitive space. Next, the Strategy Group developed a comprehensive list of operational issues and business aspirations in close coordination with Mortgage Connect. Drawing upon both Copper Mobile’s industry expertise and on extensive interviews — with experts from the mortgage, IT, technology, and refinance sectors — we were able to identify potential solutions for our client.

In the second phase, the team thoroughly screened each idea. We quickly developed and refined business cases to estimate potential impact and desirability. After presenting to the client, we mutually agreed to conduct full business planning for a number of the proposed mobile solutions.

The team developed a compelling business case for vendor management, proposing a profile-based approach to qualify and promote high-performing vendors (while simultaneously identifying under-performing ones). The strategy team also proposed a robust scorecard that would enable Mortgage Connect to raise the standard in the mortgage refinance industry. At the same time, the team analyzed the potential impact of mobile technology and built ROI analyses to give a clear picture of benefits and investments, including preliminary financial projections and in-depth evaluations of organizational fit and feasibility.

Finally, the strategy team presented Mortgage Connect with a comprehensive mobile roadmap and an Omni Channel Strategy that made it easy to identify, analyze and decide on next steps.

Impact

After completing the strategic analysis with Copper Mobile, Mortgage Connect intends to build the recommended vendor management solution. The client has also expressed an interest in evaluating other areas of its business so we can mutually determine a comprehensive mobile roadmap for the entire enterprise.
