It’s estimated that an average of 6 hours a young person spend with his screen a day (this is except the IT professionals)
It’s very easy to kill our time (minutes will become hours) by checking, liking, posting, watching, playing, reading suggested article etc.
We don’t understand, how much a screen addiction influences in our life, I call it “digital drug”.
We can live mindfully, sleep good & breath well if we train ourselves to reduce our screen addiction.
Once we wake up in the morning, first object our hand reaches is the smart phone, also the last thing most people look at before going to bed is smart phone.
This has a very strong impact in:
1. Relationships
2. Mental Health
3. Talent / Productivity
We keep checking the phone throughout the day, this will reduce our capacity in finishing needed tasks, reducing the conversation with people around us. Our mind thinks that, let’s do tomorrow and the same smart phone is there for tomorrow to entertain us more than what it did on the previous day, we will never overcome this.
There is a survey from King’s College in London says, children feel immense discomfort when they do not have a phone around them, doesn’t this look dangerous?
During my teenage, I had a good habit of writing poems (on my native language), recently there was a power failure for about two hours, I managed to write ten poems (of course my phone had no power too), I agree that the screen addiction has reduced my productivity.
Indeed, you don’t have to be online / check news feeds all the time , there is nothing to lose ??
The best way is to turn notifications off, so that we will not have the intention to check the phone on a regular basis.
There is a concept called “Digital Wellness” which is the solution to improve our relationship with technology and to learn how to enhance human relationships through the intentional use and development of technology.
Let’s do a digital detoxification, lets reduce our time spent on smart phones, else use it productively to have a better mental health and productivity.
Let’s be more organic not only in our foods to have a physical health but also in our technology to have a mental health.
