We need to create the society we want to live in!
We have recently heard some naysaying about the Dementia Friends initiative. Essentially people saying it is too small, or just a gimmick. But sometimes we have to get "gimmicky" if we are to reach new audiences and engage people in new ideas. Although I run a busy consultancy service I have taken some time out recently to have some fun. You can read ore about that in this link.
I have been so proud to have been working with my friends from the Forget Me Not Group to put together our submission for a presentation (hopefully!) at this year’s Dementia Congress. We have been proud of the impact we have had in GP surgeries through our awareness sessions. I know it wasn’t my input that made those changes – it was the input, humanity and humour of Chris, Chris, Celia and Keith.
All of my recent work has had a common theme. It has all been about engaging with people in fun and informative ways. talking about the experience of dementia, suggesting practical support, debunking myths and making new friends.
So - what are you doing to create that society?
