We MUST do better than this!

Another inconvenient truth
In September, Super Rod launched an awareness campaign to encourage safer working practices in the electrical industry – in particular the use of lock off kits and voltage testers to prove dead before starting work.
While Super Rod has championed many causes over the years, from apprenticeships to innovation, this is the first time we have led on a safety campaign of this kind and there is one reason for it – Louise Taggart.
In December last year, I attended an event in Scotland where Louise was one of the speakers. Her brother Michael was electrocuted at work in an incident that should have been prevented. Had proper safety procedures been followed on the site where he was working, he would still be here today.
Louise has dedicated her life’s work to ensuring no-one else has to go through what her family did. I was moved by Louise’s telling of Michael’s Story and felt a duty to help her share it with more people.
We devised a campaign, using the help of the Electrician’s Community Forum on Facebook, who carried out some candid research on our behalf. Our findings make shocking reading and it is clear that much more needs to be done to change attitudes to safety in the industry. Otherwise, its just a matter of time before another accident happens, and another electrician doesn’t make it home to his family and loved ones.
Louise has now compiled this compelling video, please take the time to watch and share. https://vimeo.com/254205732
