We Must All Do Our Part
David Gilks
I use neuroscience and ancient wisdom to help individuals discover the one thing that will change everything.
$11 Billion Dollars a year...that is the annual spend on personal development in the US, I cannot imagine what the number must be globally, and to what end?
The weight loss industry and personal development work on the same model, it's a numbers game. These Industries work harder and harder to keep your attention as you get waterboarded with an endless stream of possibilities which to choose from to solve your pain and fix your problem.
As a professional in both the physical and mental wellness space, I also found myself getting caught up in the latest tools and tricks and marketing tricks to capture my audience. I had to eventually stop and figure out what I was up to in the world, what was I offering, why would people care, and did it actually work?
Phil Kaplan, a trainer from the US once said "the fitness industry is the only industry where you can pay for a result, fail to achieve that result, then blame yourself". I really took that to heart and began to make sure that when somebody reached out to me for help, I actually had the skill to help them, I didn't want to be the reason they did not succeed.
I cannot even tell you how much money, how many courses, and how many hours I have invested into developing my knowledge and skill set, and interestingly enough after all that it only comes down to two things...

For my clients to be successful they need to be honest, 100% honest about where they are in life and how they got there. We all bear the burden for the mistakes we have made and the confusion on how to make it right...all of us. But it is also up to us to develop the courage to set it right.
As for myself, as a coach, guide, and mentor, I need to be 100% engaged and able to create an environment for people to feel safe enough to practice being courageous. All the knowledge and skill I possess is of little use if I cannot first help others feel confident in themselves.
As I have often said, we are part of a universal ecosystem and for us to thrive, we have to do our part through personal responsibility on all levels and pass on the lessonsWe mus we have learned from life to those who are just starting their journey.
There is no free ride in life, we must all do our part...
