We are more common than we think.
Mental health plays a huge part in how we connect. Often we believe that our roles and identities are the most important parts of ourselves, and we tend to forget the most important thing that binds us, and that’s who we are being when we are together.
In the moments we move out of roles, and into our human traits, we find ourselves moving from doing to being. Mental health needs both of these aspects to be healthy, whilst roles and identities are relevant, human characteristics trump ‘role identities’ every time. Compassion, empathy, trust, and love transcend roles.
I designed, directed and facilitated this mental health week video for the wonderful team at HIF. It tackles the issues of the loneliness epidemic that is causing our increasing feeling of fragmentation and isolation.
Take a look - it's a beautiful piece (one of my most treasured pieces of work this year). Thanks, HIF and Studio Orange for your hard work!
