Short answer, black on a bright'ish, white'sh display screen WILL exacerbate eye-strain, presenting in Computer Vision Syndrome, Screen Fatigue or worse, stress related visual "repetitive stress injuries" under the heading of Asthenopia (WHO ICD-10)
For far too many of us "access to text" might as well be rocket science or the quantum mechanics of what the little orange engine light is on the dashboard.
