We Made it!

We Made it!

WE MADE IT!.......... Not the 100 kms walk but the $4,000 target thanks in large part to our LinkedIn friends and connections, but hey, why stop at $4,000.

This weekend Jane and I woke to a spectacular band of mist hanging over the harbour, we called our daughter who is currently in Lisbon and did what anyone normal couple would do on a chilly morning, cuddle up and stay in bed? No, we did what anyone training for the Oxfam walk would do on a chilly, crisp, sunny weekend morning, we got up and went for a training walk for 23 kms. This is now routine and not nearly as punishing as it was when we embarked on this crazy journey. However next weekend we have a 57km walk planned, it's the first half of the official walk, from Brooklyn to St Ives. The team is leaving home at 3.20am and whilst you're all sleeping - we'll be walking, when you wake up and have breakfast we'll still be walking, as you fill your morning we'll still be walking, when you stop for lunch we'll still be walking, as the afternoon passes... you guessed it, we'll still be walking and as you settle down for dinner we'll be getting close to St Ives and finishing our day. Can't say that I'm chomping at the bit with enthusiasm but will do my best to push through, keeping in mind why I embarked on this madness in the first place - to help those less fortunate.

I'll update you all after the walk is done but in the meantime if you're still putting off donating to the cause we only have 45 days to go so please check your wallet, check your purse and even check down the back of the sofa, anything you find that you know you can live without, put it to a great cause.

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far and to everyone who is about to.
I hope you all enjoy your Sunday and at some point during the day spare a thought for team WTP who will be doing it tough.
