We're excited to announce that the?WFP?Innovation?Accelerator?has relocated to a new office space in Munich, Germany!

Our new office is centrally located and strengthens our ties to the local community of innovators, partners, and donors while serving as a hub for supporting?WFP's global operations and engaging with the broader humanitarian and development?innovation?ecosystem.

This move signifies?the start of a new era of?innovation. Our team will continue pushing boundaries, exploring opportunities, and achieving even more together. Our unwavering vision remains: leveraging?innovation?and technology to address the global?food?and climate crises, alongside other pressing global issues.

WFP’s Climate x Hunger Pitch Slam @ Greentech Festival, 2023

The global community is experiencing a?food?crisis of unprecedented proportions; one driving millions to the brink of starvation. Given this situation, new solutions targeting the climate crisis and subsequent impacts on global hunger are essential. At Greentech Festival in Berlin this coming June, innovators from the Accelerator’s climate-focused portfolio will be participating as part of this global platform that aims to empower changemakers and foster?innovative?green technologies for a sustainable future.?Learn more about who they are.

Peru Welcomes Nilus in Successful Soft Launch

Nilus, which is part of?WFP?Innovation?Accelerator’s Scaleup Enablement portfolio recently had its successful soft launch in Lima, Peru. During the event, 290 families had the opportunity to explore a catalog of 215 different products. Nilus aims to improve?food?access, and support farmers and low-income communities by using?innovative?technology to buy?food?directly from farmers and offer it at discounts of up to 70% to community kitchens run by women.?Learn more about Nilus?here.?

Especially now that we see them grow at Deutsches Museum Munich as part of a temporary exhibition this month! This exciting exhibition is showcasing H2Grow, our Scale-up Enablement hydroponics?innovation?that enables?food?plants to grow in difficult places. Curious?

Solar 4 Resilience (S4R)

In India, millions of farmers lack access to sustainable, reliable and affordable energy to produce, store, process and consume?food.?S4R, a new addition to our Scale-up enablement portfolio, has been developed by the private company Science 4 Society (S4S) technologies in cooperation with?WFP?and the Government of Odisha state in India, with the aim to promote?food?processing, drive resilience building, climate adaptation and livelihoods and in turn, transform rural?food?systems. This public-private partnership enables women to become micro-entrepreneurs by providing them with training and interest-free loans to procure solar-drying technologies, which are used to process?food?that would otherwise be wasted (e.g. imperfect vegetables) into value-add products such as chilli paste.??Read more.
