We love trying new things!
We created Haute Dokimazo back in 2017 as a way to try something new. In fact, Dokimazo is the Greek word for "to try," or "to prove that something is genuine." We wanted to try out an event format that we knew would work, and pair it with a new way of greeting people (our signature "welcome attack" and "welcome cafe" experience), along with removing the burden of labels amongst participants. We wanted to try new and upcoming technology, toy with new ways of engaging people in off-the-beaten-path locations. We wanted to see what it would be like to make decisions based on fun and feelings, rather than specs and budget; oh, and we wanted to know if we could do it all without charging people thousands of dollars to try it out and come play with us.
So far, it's working! And we're getting more bold in our "newness" with each event, too. Our Chicago event is coming up May 19-21st and it's just LOADED with new stuff!
We're kicking off our welcome cafe on Sunday, May 19th, with Top Chef Carlos Gaytan's not-even-open-yet restaurant. He's creating a special experience just for us! Then we do our crowdsourcing, where we determine what the topics for the conference will be. Is GDPR kicking your ass? Are you trying to come up with a security plan for a festival? About to run a major exhibit house RFP and wondering how to format it? Struggling with audience acquisition? Whatever problems you're trying to solve, you'll meet people who can share how they've solved it before. Just finish reorging your team? Have you become an expert in reskinning your event assets after a corporate rebranding? Have you gone from being a soloprenuer to an event company CEO with employees? You have expertise to share, and now's the time to offer it up!
On Monday, May 20th, we're partnering with ESP Presents to use their brand new, not-even-open-yet event venue called Exchange 312. Of course, this is the day we run our unconference sessions based on the topics we crowdsourced the night before. We also like to do some fun surprises on this day... fun fact: did you know the current world record for the most number of sticky notes placed on a face in 30 seconds is 38? We're pretty confident we can beat that. When you register, you'll have the change to sign up as a participant, a helper, or a witness to attempting to break that world record. Yes, we firmly believe that someone will leave Haute Dokimazo Chicago as a new Guinness Book of World Records record holder! Why? Well.... why not?
And finally, we know that it's hard to commit to an event with no pre-determined topics, so we always run a few workshops at our events so you can come in knowing you'll get 3 CEUs for pre-approved content. On Tuesday, May 21st, we'll meet up at Catalyst Ranch and you'll choose from one of three workshops - we'll announce those workshops next week.
Our participants leave Haute Dokimazo with amazing new connections, a notebook full of ideas, and a renewed sense of passion for their jobs. Come join us in Chicago and become a part of the Haute family! (P.S. participating qualifies you for Secret Family Reunion!)
