We Lost The Pot Of Gold At The End Of The Rainbow?
When I was growing up, my grandparents used to have three little gardens to grow our own food and animals - chicken, a pig, few sheep and a horse.
I've been working on the micro-farm since I was a kid and, however hard the work is, the food taste was different, authentic and delicious.
The tight connection with nature also has another perk - it opens up vast amounts of space in your mind for creativity and problem solving.
I loved reading comic books since I was about 6 and by 7 I used to cut out some of the characters and glue them in my own improvised comic books.
Another friend used to create board games for us to play.
Another group of friends were always creating innovative ways to explore the mountain, like building our own slides in the winter, or skateboard-like rides in the summer. There wasn't any skateboard shops near us too!
In school - loved the painting classes and also started writing poems. Nothing brilliant, however there was this one time they published my poem in one edition of the school newspaper.
Everything is always changing, and by the time I was 12, I had to move living in the big city and I'm here ever since.
Losing that tight connection with nature also has its effects, one of them being more susceptible to sickness.
The big city isn't clean, the air and water are way different and the food...well overall a huge change that I had to experience and live with.
Another thing is people's habits - in the village everyone knows everyone and they're mostly positive, in the city it's like having a single smiley face trying to put a smile on another 100 - easy to say, but in reality?
All of this made me notice another perspective on corona and the events that unfolded during the pandemic.
While we had to lockdown, nature began to sprout - as in a huge, global spring:
Independent says:
"Coronavirus: Rare fin whales swim close to Marseille as lockdown curbs human activity
‘The lockdown is helping nature and biodiversity rediscover their natural spaces,’ says park chief
The world’s second-largest mammal took advantage of the absence of human bustle and noise around major city to make a “very rare” appearance.
Two fin whales were spotted near Marseille, southern France, which, like almost all of Europe, is in lockdown during the coronavirus crisis.
A sea patrol filmed the pair powering through the waters off the Calanques national park, a protected reserve of outstanding natural beauty.
Didier Reault, president of the park board, said it was “very, very rare” for fin whales to be spotted and filmed at such close quarters in the reserve’s waters..."

"Peaks of Himalayas visible from parts of India for first time in decades as pollution drops amid lockdown
Indian residents can now see the towering peaks of the Himalayas from Punjab for the first time in 30 years, after a massive drop in pollution caused by the country's coronavirus lockdown.

Official reports showed air quality in 85 cities had improved significantly since the lockdown
India has a population of around 1.3 billion people, with one of the world's most polluted cities
The lockdown, implemented on March 22, has resulted in a "significant improvement in air quality in the country", as revealed by data analysis from India's Central Pollution Control Board.
The report showed air quality in 85 cities had improved significantly as most vehicles remained off roads and non-essential businesses closed..."
Mind you, air quality took a whopping 25% leap in some parts of China, as reported by carbon brief.org:
"Analysis: Coronavirus set to cause largest ever annual fall in CO2 emissions
The global coronavirus pandemic continues to unfold at a staggering pace, decimating lives, livelihoods and the normal functioning of society, as well as interrupting energy demand and CO2 emissions.
Previous Carbon Brief analysis showed that the crisis temporarily cut CO2 emissions in China by 25%, with emissions still below normal more than two months after the country entered lockdown.
With dozens more countries enforcing lockdowns in response to the pandemic, a wide range of indicators show how transport use, electricity demand and industrial activity are being cut..."
Basically, Nature sprouted by regenerating itself, whales travelled to long forgotten areas, the air quality improved so drastically, that some people, living near a mountain saw it for the first time in their lives.
And these are just 3 effects of the sprout - many more were reported and documented too.
Consider that there's so many studies proving the vast majority of perks when living close to nature. This article wouldn't be enough to cover them all, so I'll just post a brief.
