Are We Losing Young Potential to Inadequate Schools?

Welcome to The Goodness Journal, your passport to a world brimming with compassion and positive change. Every week, our team at the Giving for Good Foundation uncovers a heartwarming, true story that illuminates the remarkable impact of kindness and charity. These tales serve as a testament to the incredible power we all possess to make a difference, one act of goodness at a time.

Despite having one of the world's largest school systems, over 60% of schools in India are unable to provide quality education as per RTE norms . This severely impacts children from low-income homes, who cannot afford private education.

Here are 5 major issues hindering quality education in underserved areas:

1) Underfunding: Schools operate on minimal budgets, which deprives them of essential resources.

2) Teacher Shortage: With 86,968 fewer government school teachers since 2016, inadequate training only makes the problem worse.

3) Lack of Resources: Many students in rural or underserved communities have little to no access to resources as minimal as a notebook and a pencil.

4) Poor Infrastructure: Inefficient buildings with no basic amenities or playgrounds only fuel the problem of dropout rates since children are less motivated to attend school regularly.

5) Socio-Cultural Barriers: Gender discrimination, early marriages, and traditional mindsets prevent school attendance and increase dropout rates.

Ensuring quality education for all requires a collective effort from the government, corporate companies, NGOs, and individuals.
