We live in a limitless world with endless possibilities

Life is an adventure, a gift which is also time bound, physically. I’m very spiritual person, but I always think there is a lot more to what we know and see. With this journey a lot will be confronted, some good, some bad, some our own doing some by others. However what we do with what we have will be the fulfillment of the energy we put into it. Whether that be by way of education, career, family, relations, focusing on self or others will determine the reward of our efforts. We and only we determine our endless possibilities.

I would suggest that it becomes limitless by what we create with the “memory” aspect of our adventure, by way of the amazing potential that is within us. Our struggle to understand, love and happiness, goes a long way towards fulfillment, opening up limitless possibility, beyond our physical presence. it possible to be happy with endless desires? I also know, that the first thing that comes to mind when someone says about limiting your desire. You would probably think, if I don’t get what I desire, because I am now depriving myself of the desire, how can that possibly make me happy?

Instead of this do focus on getting one thing that you desire, pick anything. Once you have received it, see how long does it keep you happy. You will be surprised to see, if everything you did to obtain what you desired, during the whole process of it, were you happy about it? Let me try to put this in two concrete examples. Let’s say you want to buy a particular house. You work hard for it, earn and save money, then you finally are able to afford the house in a couple of years. Once you have the house, how long would staying in that particular house? Would you be able to come every day to your house and feel the same happiness for the rest of your life?

What about the hardships you went through to get there, and things you still are doing to keep up with it. Of course, you have probably worked 8–10 hours a day not including the commute and other things which consume your time, for something that you quite literally can savor for 5–6 hours a day here I am taking 8 hours of your sleep away from the 24 hour day. You spent almost 50% of your lifetime, getting the thing you desire, to only be able to enjoy it less than 15% of your life.

Now lets take the second example. Lets say, you love music. Listening to it, creating it, jamming with your band. You may not be a very famous musician, but when you are involved with your music, it really makes you happy. You spent 8–10 hours a day doing it, and using the same math as above, you basically spent at least 50% of your lifetime happy. Trust me, that’s way more than what many people get.

Moreover, the point here is that, there’s nothing wrong with a desire for happiness. What goes wrong is our assumptions on what will bring us happiness. Now there’s tons of scientific literature out there which you can google, where they keep proving that through generations and across the globe, any “object” will never bring you lasting happiness. In fact, most things lose their value in less than a month of you obtaining it.

Do something that makes you happy about doing it, not for the result but for the process itself. The reason most people can’t find happiness is because they are looking at happiness as a goal, something to get to and own. Problem is, when you get to the goal, you just start looking at the next one and the cycle keeps repeating itself. Remember that happiness is a journey rather than a destination. You don’t need something to give your life meaning, it already has meaning.

Remember the mythological story, when lord Brahma tired after most of creations, he made Lords first to carry on creation but they started consuming old creation rather new creation. Later he created monks for same purpose but they got busy in praising God. Then he created demons but they started destruction instead creation. At last he created Manu with qualities of all the three qualities. As a result he has desire to consume every thing in universe thanking God for every good or bad opportunity even though they have to destroy it for ever.

You are alive and capable, and that’s all that you really need. Find the journey you want to go on, and I assure you, once you are on it, happiness will always be yours. Happiness can be woven into the journey. One can choose to be happy no matter the surrounding circumstances. Our emotions are the only thing that we truly can control. Should we take ownership and forge our own emotional path or will we allow our happiness to be dictated and stolen by outside forces? This will be the beginning of the healing process Cheers!
