It is the 5th time they’ve met in 2 months, and we believe this does show serious intent to get on and get this treaty agreed as quickly as possible, the target is 6 months.
Improving access to markets will 100% boost UK trade, Germany is currently the UK’s second largest trading partner (8.5% of all UK trade) and the success of this agreement could pave the way for better trade agreements with other EU countries.
This new Government are making all the right noises for policies to support and enable UK business to trade internationally - it’s great to hear the new Trade Secretary Jonathan Reynolds kick-starting trade negotiations with India and the Gulf Cooperation again, as well as starting new talks with Turkey, Switzerland, South Korea and Israel.
We would really like to see a focus on improving trading terms with the EU. Anything to cut the cost of trading will be a boost to sales growth in this export market.

It is reassuring to see the UK import/export outlook is looking good this year. After a slow start figures produced by British Chambers of Commerce have shown a strong growth in both exported and imported goods in the second quarter of 2024.
