Research at Cornell University has provided a fascinating insight into worry.
They conducted a study that followed people over an extended time and discovered that 85% of what people worried about never happened. Well, the good news just keeps coming... Of the 15 % of worries that came to fruition, 79% of the time, people handled those problems better than they thought they would. They even reported learning something valuable from the experience. Therefore, if we do the maths in a staggering 97% of cases, we have no need to worry at all.
Prior to a new review meeting, when you are calling to tell a potential client that their portfolio has temporarily dropped, remember this statistic ??
How can you use this?
Have a think about an important recent meeting.
This may have been a new business pitch or could have been a large presentation or even a meeting with a challenging employee. A few nerves are good, however if you find yourself wanting this situation to be over you have a problem. Maybe you put on a brave face however inwardly you tense up and then you come away from this experience feeling like you could have given more?
This is where visualisation can help!

Perhaps you have heard of this in sport. It works. Olympic athletes use it. Marathon runners use it. Successful public speakers use it.
You're turn...
Take 10 minutes before your next key meeting and picture the outcome you want.
It is rather simple, but it takes some practice to gain the most benefit from it. Depending on what you wish to change and how big your challenge is. It is about imagining, or visualizing, yourself in the particular situation, doing well. Succeeding.
Our mind is a powerful tool, and we rarely spend any time training it… When considering visualising you can do this to help you to imagine achieving a goal or you can do this at any point to help you to relax before a big event. This is so powerful and when you become an expert you will start to just expect things to go very well.
Before you go!
