Thank you for letting me join you on your journey to greater and greater success.
I try to keep my newsletters short and to the point because I know that your time is valuable and I respect that.
Today, I want to talk to you about editing.
We humans are a lot like writing. It's not the first draft that counts. The trick is in the editing.
People ask me all the time, how can I write a great advertisement? How can I sell my product through my words?
The answer is simple, just start by writing one simple, but true sentence. This is the trick that Hemingway used to become one of the greatest writers in history.
But you don't have to be a Hemingway. You're you, and that is great. All you have to do is get one sentence, any sentence written on a piece of paper.
Then you add to that sentence without worrying about spelling, grammar or who is going to see it. Right now this is your own private copy. This should take about twenty percent of your total writing time. For some people, this will be quick. For others, it may take a few days. But I encourage you to write quickly and from the heart at this stage in writing the ad copy.
When you're finished, spend eighty percent of your writing time on editing.
